Update #7 finds newcomer Garrett Schwab still on top, with Mark Watzke trailing by just 3 HBPs. Garrett is the first entrant to lead in consecutive weekly updates this season.

Four pitching performances in yesterday’s matchups directly impacted today’s leaderboard: In the NL, Max Scherzer toasted the Brewers with a 1-hit, 16K shutout, giving Mark a key point for strikeouts. Scherzer’s gem would have afforded Karen an outright pool lead with a point for NL IP, but a nice start by Cole Hamels (7IP, 4H, 0R, 12K) kept the Phils’ lefty on top in innings.
The AL saw another strong outing for the A’s Sonny Gray (7.2IP, 5H, 0ER, 9K), which preserved Garrett’s precious AL ERA point. Mark missed a chance himself to take the lead when Corey Kluber couldn’t manage the four Ks needed to regain the AL SO title in a rain delayed loss to the Tigers. Ironically, Kluber’s five innings were enough to earn Karen a point for AL IP…

Next week's update may be a bit late due to end of school year activities. See you then!
